11/08 2004 - Eruption ahead in the Valle del Bove The lava flow, that is advancing at a regular speed of about 2-4 metres per second near Serra Gianicola Piccola, is divided in two parallel arms. The advanced one has already covered 900 metres and presents a final area of 10-15 metres wide. In some parts of the lava flow it's operating the so called “ingrottamento” phenomenon. Sandro Bonaccorso, chief executive of the INGV of Catania, has confirmed that the desertic zone where the fissure is active is faraway from any built-up area.
10/08 2004 - Eruption ahead in the Valle del Bove Today, Etna's guides have found out a new summit eruption of the volcano. Lava is going out from a significant fissure located near Serra Giannicola Piccola at 2650 m elevation. The lava flow seems to advance quite well. The eruption, started at 7 am, is distant from any town and it does not represent a threat for sicilian people. 1 frattura eruttiva dalla cui base e' fuoriuscita la colatina del 7 settembre 09/08 2004 - Etna Eruption The small lava flow has extended over a distance of about 300 m and it has stopped. |
